The Check List That We Went Through

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

I've written this part long time ago, worth all the writing though late I'm eager to have it publish

Our experiences

Hospital/Clinics
For new parents, there must be lots of things lurking in your mind trying to get the best of everything for your newborn, your wife ( for husband especially) or your extended family. When we received the news am pregnant, finding the best hospital/ clinic was in our list. Both of us were busy 'googling' every hospitals, reading forums and asking friends and families on the best place. Of course financial is another aspect of it. Since we are not that rich yet, filtering the hospital name + cost were our strategy.

Some advice us to go the gov clinin as well to get a hold of the red boo. In case of anything. Not that we pray for something bad to happen, just a precaution. Yup, after long discussion, the hospital matter solved.

Antenatal Class
Now came into our mind about the antenatal class. Hubby never heard of it but I was keen on attending one. Again, different hospital offers you different rate. If you have the luxury to spend your money then there are courses that hike up to RM 400. Ours, just RM80 and yet we managed to get the best of it. We were fully satisfied.

Buying New Born Necessities
Not until we came to the 7th / 8 months of my pregnancy we started our shopping list. It's different from doing your own shopping choosing nice shoes, dress etc2. It's more on what is needed, comfortable and safe for your newborn. Ohhh just like adults materials, brands play role in determining the price range too.If you are Kimora like and have all the money that you can spend. Price doesn't really matters. Nappies, pampers, NB clothing (day & night) mittens, etc2. Nowadays you can shop online for almost everything and find the best bargains without having to cramp your legs and bring your heavy belly around. Some find it as a way to exercise and accelerate the cervical opening when needed.

One more thing, car seater for baby/kids. As we are more concern of safety, this is non negotiable. You have to buy it. In some countries you are not allowed to bring you baby home if they found you have non of this in your car.

P/s: So.... go shop around often when you are in your 3rd trimester

Using 2nd Hand Stuffs
If you have elder sister/ brothers whose babies have grown up might as well ask for their rockers or strollers if they don't use it anymore rather than keeping it in the store. It saves a whole lot. Perhaps the only time needed for you to buy a new one is when you child no longer fits into it or the conditions are unbearable.

Stop here, will add more if any
