Pursuing Dreams

Us...

I met Kamalan yesterday, another scholar from my batch and Mrs Azlina from Maxis.. yupp.. our official sponsor to reach our life goals (well, at least one of it). I have finished my journey but Kamalan has 2 and a half years to go..the longest amongst us. Me, Faisal, Joshua & Kevin have accomplished ours. The outcomes... too good to be true! We are walking on our own paths, Kevin in Gamuda, Faisal in JP Morgan and Joshua in Vietnam doing the love of his life. We are all carrying the next level of mission in our life. It intrigued me to ask what are mine? ..... Sigh..... Lots ! Don't ask me how to achieve each of it but I will certainly find my ways like I used to.

Talking to Kamalan & Mrs Azlina have awakened the giant within me, we covered almost all aspects of life in the shortest period of time, the dreams, the charity works to do and the exposure we gained while we were on our knowledge quest. My minds were opened, my confidence reached its highest stake, my horizon suddenly widened for I do not know why. Perhaps there are too many things that I dream of in life.

I had never imagined to be part of this group, intellectual people I call it, the selected fews, especially when all of us went through series of tough interview processes. I will remember that day till death... Sitting in front of Dr Nik Safiah Karim, Tan Sri Lim, Prof Raja, Tan Sri Megat.... it really drained my nerves, my not so fluent 'Mat Saleh' tongue got twisted.... and heh! I was laughed at too when I tried to describe something wrongly. Before I knew, I got a call late in the evening telling that yes! You are a successful candidate! Eureka!.... My underground missions went as follows till that day!:

1) Sat for IELTS exam.. (it was my friend, Chare who insisted we sat for it in 2007, I didn't have enough time to
study due to workload and projects at site, I was solely based on book exercises and guts. It was expensive tau, around RM500....
2) Next, passed the exam with good score and applied for Imperial College admission. I was often told by
friends, the university is of high league and there is no way I could enter it... after all, I wasn't a first class degree holder (but :) I was the Gold Award recipient for my course, the secret, let me share with you next time) .... Heh, let see if I made it! And .... yup!... a month later, I received an unconditional offer letter. Wasn't sure of whether Imperial will accept me, I was in the process of filling up Cambridge entrance essay. Crazy huh!
3) I was panicked, unsure where to get the load of money, I told my abah, I was just going to frame the offer..I received my 6th financial plead rejection when I saw the MAXIS website... (can you imagine, I spent hours days and nights skeeming through all sorts of scholarships/ financial assistance). One day, I got a call, and it was an on spot interview...and then ... you know what was next! I was on my flight to the UK for my MSc in Advance Chemical Engineering.

Believe me, both the interview and the studies weren't that easy......
